The Yonne department is properous thanks to its agriculture and its tourism. Its history, relegious architecture and its wine villages less than 2 hours from Paris make it a very sought after area.
If you love history and architecture the Yonne is the place for you. Visit Vézelay and its basilica, a UNESCO heritage site, the medieval towns of Auxerre, Joigny, Sens and Noyers, all on the river Yonne, Or one of the stunning renaissance castles, like Sant-Fargeau.
Nature lovers will be very happy here too, big open spaces like the Morvan will allow you to enjoy the fresh air. Don't forget to visit Avallon and valley of the river Cousin. The Bourgogne and Nivernais canals offer plenty of possibilties for water enthusiasts.
And of course let's not forget the gastronomy and wines, like the famous Chablis and many other great Burgundy wines.

The Yonne is great for a second home; easy to reach, very pretty, interesting and nice real estate.
The Yonne, like the rest of Burgundy is well connected, the with the A6/E15 motorway from Paris, one of France’s major road arteries running diagonally from north to south.
There are good trainservices between Paris and the Yonne but for the nearest TGV you need to go to Montbard.
The nearest airport for the Yonne is Paris, two hours away. You can fly to Paris and rent a car to drive down to the Yonne
